How to Restrict Managed Balance

Learn how to restrict the amount of funds managed by Stoic AI using sub-accounts, Funding accounts, or exchange Earn products.

By default, Stoic automatically detects and uses all funds available in the trading wallets (Spot or Futures) of the exchange account connected to the platform.

If your trading wallet already holds specific cryptocurrencies (such as ETH, XRP, ADA, or others), Stoic may sell or rebalance them during the next portfolio adjustment cycle to align your holdings with the strategy’s target allocation (learn more at 👉 stoic.ai).

If you want to keep specific assets outside the strategy, please follow one of the options below.

Option 1. Move funds to another account or sub-account (Recommended)

The most effective way to separate your managed balance from personal holdings:

  • Create a Sub-Account: Transfer the exact funds intended for Stoic to a sub-account and connect the API keys generated specifically for that sub-account.

  • Use another exchange or personal wallet: Transfer assets you want to hold long-term to an external hardware wallet or another exchange.

Once moved, those assets will no longer appear in the trading wallet connected to Stoic, and the bot will not use them.

Option 2. Move funds to a non-trading wallet on the exchange

Most crypto exchanges feature dedicated non-trading sections that API trading bots cannot access:

  • Funding Account (Main Account)

  • Earn / Savings products

Assets held in these sections are completely excluded from your active trading balance. Stoic will not detect or trade them.

💡 Example: Assume your total exchange balance is $10,000. You want Stoic to manage $8,000 and keep $2,000 in stablecoins for personal opportunities. Simply transfer $2,000 from your Trading wallet to your Funding or Earn account. Stoic will only trade the $8,000 remaining in the trading wallet.

🛡️ Important Security Note

Stoic executes trades strictly through your exchange's API and cannot withdraw funds. All assets remain safely under your direct control on your exchange at all times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Stoic use all funds in my trading wallet?

Yes. Stoic uses the full trading balance available in the connected Spot or Futures wallet. If assets remain in the trading wallet, the strategy may use them when rebalancing the portfolio.

Can I keep stablecoins in my trading wallet without Stoic using them?

No. If stablecoins remain in the trading wallet, Stoic may use them during portfolio rebalancing. If you want to keep stablecoins outside the strategy, move them to a Funding wallet, Earn account, or another exchange account.

Will Stoic sell the assets already in my portfolio?

Possibly. If your account already contains assets such as ETH, XRP, ADA, or other coins, Stoic may sell them during rebalancing in order to match the strategy’s target allocation.

How can I keep some funds outside the strategy?

You can move the funds you want to keep outside the strategy to:

  • another exchange account

  • a sub-account

  • a personal crypto wallet

  • a non-trading wallet such as Funding or Earn

Assets stored outside the trading wallet will not be used by Stoic.

Can Stoic access or withdraw my funds?

No. Stoic can place trades through the exchange API but cannot withdraw funds from your exchange account. All assets remain under your control and responsibility.
