I want Stoic to manage only part of my balance. What should I do?

This article explains how Stoic uses your exchange balance and how you can limit the amount of funds managed by the strategy.

Stoic manages all funds available in the trading wallets of the exchange account connected to the platform. Depending on the strategy you use, this includes assets stored in your Spot or Futures trading wallets.

Assets stored in non-trading sections of the exchange, such as Funding or Earn accounts, are not used by Stoic. If assets remain in the trading wallet, Stoic may use them when managing or rebalancing the portfolio.

How Stoic Uses the Full Trading Balance

Stoic strategies are designed to automatically manage portfolio allocations.

To operate correctly, the strategy uses the full trading balance available in the connected account. This means the system may rebalance the assets in your portfolio and sell or buy assets when adjusting the portfolio structure. Please note that if your portfolio already contains certain assets (for example ETH, XRP, ADA, or other cryptocurrencies), Stoic may sell them during portfolio rebalancing.

This happens because the strategy adjusts the portfolio to match its target allocation.

If you want to keep specific assets outside the strategy, please follow the options described below.

How to Limit the Amount Managed by Stoic

If you want Stoic to manage only a specific portion of your funds, you can move the remaining assets to a different location. There are two common options.

Option 1. Move funds to another wallet or account

You can transfer the funds you want to keep outside the strategy to another wallet or account.

Examples include:

  • another exchange account

  • a sub-account on the same exchange

  • a personal crypto wallet

Once the funds are moved, they will no longer appear in the trading wallet connected to Stoic. As a result, Stoic will not use them in the strategy.

Option 2. Move funds to a non-trading wallet on the exchange

Most exchanges have sections that are not used for trading.

Examples include:

  • Funding Account

  • Earn Account

  • Savings products

If you move assets to one of these sections, they will no longer be part of the trading balance. Stoic will not detect or use those funds for trading.

Example

Assume your exchange account contains $10,000.

If you want Stoic to manage only $8,000 and keep $2,000 in stablecoins for potential market opportunities, move the $2,000 to a Funding wallet, Earn account, or another exchange account.

Stoic will then manage only the funds that remain in the trading wallet.

Important Note

Stoic can place trades through your exchange API but cannot withdraw funds from your exchange account. All assets remain under your control and responsibility at all times.
